This was the home of Nick and Amy Swedmark of Swedmark Hardware. Nick Swedmark was a hardware salesman even before he and his twin brother Paul started Swedmark Hardware in 1936. Paul Swedmark eventually bought out Nick and ran the store until 1952, when they sold it to their son, Chet Swedmark, and his wife, Naomi. Nick established the Swedmark Real Estate and Insurance Agency and ran it out of his home.
Amy Swedmark graduated from BSC in 1923. She married E. C. “Nick” Swedmark on June 14, 1925. Nick died May 2, 1959, but Amy Swedmark continued to live here until her death in 1971. She suffered from Rheumatoid Arthritis for much of her life and after her death, memorials were given to the Arthritis Foundation in her name. They raised three children here: Ardyce, Doris and son Dr. Donald Swedmark.
