Birch Lane was not listed in 1940. Clara Malvey was one of the first four owners on Birch Lane in 1942 – along with John Glas, Harriet Seeling and Dexter Whittemore. Clara Malvey was a teacher at Bemidji State College.
Merton Hall and wife Donna owned the house in 1953. One more house had been built on Birch Lane – that of Chester Berg at 1601.
John C. Mueller and wife Emmy owned it in 1958. He was a salesman for Beltrami Hardware. George Mueller also worked as a salesman for Beltrami Hardware but lived on Minnesota Avenue. Three more houses had been built on Birch Lane by 1958 – those of Tom Hilligan, Charlie Lyons, and Roland Gary. These are all gone in the 1700 block, so may have been removed in order to expand the college grounds sometime after 1989. The Newman Center, and now the House of Prayer is at 1701 Birch Lane.
