lthough records indicate it was built in 1920, the first listing in a city directory is in 1942 when it was owned by Lawrence and Evelyn Mahr, pipefitter.
Matt and Muriel Decker owned it by 1946. He was a lineman for Beltrami Electric Co-op. His son Earl had the same occupation. They had children: Matthew, Earl, Rosellen, Donald, Verona, Duane, Beverly and Elizabeth “Betty.” Muriel was kitchen helper at Lutheran Hospital for a time.
Betty was in my class at St. Philips grade school. She married Stanley “Shorty” Walters on Nov 4, 1955. They lived here in the 1960s. He was a buttermaker for David Park Co.
Matt Decker and Muriel lived here until at least 1978 and possibly until his death in 1982. Muriel died March 31, 1990.
