Roy J. Bowers purchased Lot 20, Block 19 for $125 from the Townsite Co. on July 31, 1917. Roy J. Bowers, wife Marjorie, and daughter Marjorie were listed here on the 1920 census. The next year the house was occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Swanson, 1214 America avenue, who entertained at a 6 o’clock dinner on Sunday at their home in honor of Mr. and Mrs. William Norris and family and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Cook and family. Elmer and Edith Lyons moved here about 1960. Elmer was born June 19, 1913, at Bemidji, the son of Nels and Elizabeth Lyons. He married Edith L. Hanson April 28, 1938, at Bemidji. He was a Bemidji police officer, had a grocery-confection store (St. John’s Store), was a buttermaker, and, for 19 years, a press operator at Nu-Ply. He died in 1986. Edith Lyons continued to live in the home for a few more years. She died April 21, 1991.
