This home was built in 1951. Albert Hanson married Alvina Bradford on Sept 1 1951. He was a long time merchant of a clothing store at Fosston. He died at this address on May 22, 1966. Mrs. Hanson held an estate sale at the home in June 1967, selling salesman’s samples of menswear, used clothing and furniture. Vandals broke into the garage, broke open metal cabinets and stole a number of tools in January 1968. They did not break into the house. It was vacant over the weekend.
Mrs. Hanson passed away in 1969. She was an active member of the Bemidji Business and Professional Women’s Club for many years. She was a member of the Eastern Star, and a member and reader of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, of Bemidji.
The house was vacant in 1970. A large garage sale was held in August 1970 because the house was being sold. Everything had to go! Another garage sale was held one year later in August 1971 and a garage sale again in July 1972.
The property was advertised for sale or rent by the Sid Erickson Agency over 600 times between Dec 1973 and June 1976.
After her husband died in 1979, Mrs. Erma Cooper moved from Bixby Avenue to this home. Mrs. Leo Cooper came to Bemidji in September 1950 and was employed with the Bell Telephone Company from 1940 until retirement in 1975. She loved family gatherings and being with her grandchildren. In her earlier years she was an avid antique collector and enjoyed going to auctions. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Telephone Pioneers of America and Society of Military Widows. They had four daughters. She died in 2013.
