Harry F. Geil

Harry F. Geil was a very involved citizen of Bemidji. He moved with his family from Millbank, South Dakota to Bemidji, Minnesota on May 31, 1895. He was a member of the first graduating class from Bemidji High School in 1903. He attended the University of Minnesota.. He played in the band, worked as a postman, coached the girls’ basketball team in 1907, and was an early fireman. On July 7, 1907, he wrote in his journal, “Just 7 years ago today I joined the Bemidji Volunteer Fire Department. ” Harry had several photos and 36 journals/diaries at the Beltrami County History Center in the Great Northern Depot.
