E.J. Swedback purchased lot 3, Block 5, Second Add’n from the Townsite Co. for $75 on Aug 21, 1905. E. M. Hoff owed tax and penalty of $18.89 on Lot 3 of Block 5 as of Feb 1908. The home was built in 1908 and changed ownership every few years until Eversons moved into it in the 1940s.

This was the home of Fred & Bessie Everson from at least 1946-1980. They moved from renting a home at 1101 Minnesota Avenue to this address sometime between 1942-1946.
A fish house owned by Fred Everson was taken from Lake Bemidji near Diamond Point in December 1964. Also taken were a stove and a sled on which the fish house was sitting.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Everson were honored at their home on their 60th wedding anniversary in 1973 when a group of relatives called to extend their congratulations and served dinner. Fred Everson was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and spent his youth there. He came to Bemidji in 1907 and was engaged in woods work for some time and then was employed by the box factory for several years. In 1939, he was listed as a machine operator for the Bemidji Wood Products Co. He was listed as a nailerman for the box factory on the 1940 census. He retired in 1958.
He married Bessie Tharaldson on Oct 14, 1913. He became a member of the First Lutheran Church in Bemidji in 1914. They had a son Russell, a daughter Verna, and a son who died in infancy. Their daughter Verna Fearing died in 1973. Fred Everson died April 18, 1974.
Mrs. Bessie Everson’s name was mentioned frequently in the newspaper in connection with the Mother-Daughter Art club, and the Bemidji Hospital Nursing Unit Auxiliary. She was often a hostess or member of an auxiliary committee. She died on Dec 23, 1980.
