Beltrami County purchased the Nursing Home located in East Bemidji which was operated by Mrs. Gerta Peterson under a license issued by the Minnesota State Board of Health but owned by the city of Bemidji.
The building was owned by the city and was located on county property when the business transaction was decided upon. It was originally constructed as an isolation ward, later being converted into a nursing home.
The county announced that the building would be remodeled and repaired, when material became available. Meanwhile county authorities decided that Mrs. Peterson should continued to operate a nursing home in the building. (Bemidji Daily Pioneer, Dec 4, 1946)
