Graham McFarlane Torrance was born in Missouri in 1871. He started in 1903 as a member of the law firm of Gibbons & Torrance in Bemidji. In 1908, he went into private practice and had his own law firm until 1927. Starting in 1927, he was Judge of District Court, 15th Judicial District. He was also the city attorney from 1910-1911, and the Beltrami County attorney from 1911-1927. During World War I, he was a government appeal agent. He served as District Court Judge into the 1940s. He died July 7, 1953.
