John F. Eichstadt of Bemidji township was born in Germany Nov 10, 1857. He came to America when 25 years of age and about ten years later came here. Mr. Eichstadt came to this section from Alexandria about 1894 and settled on the east side of Lake Bemidji which has since been his home. When he came here there was but one building in the vicinity, the Carson trading post on the south shore of Lake Bemidji. John and his wife Augusta had a baby girl, Helen Eichstadt Premo, on Sept 21, 1894 at pre-Bemidji.
