Falling Tree Kills Lumberjack

While acting in the capacity of under-cutter, while cutting trees, at Crookston Lumber company camp number 5, near White Fish Spur, Ole Johnson, 48 years old, was instantly killed yesterday, when a tree while falling hit on the side of a dead tree in such a manner as to throw it downward, catching Johnson on the top of the head, and cracking his skull the whole length of his head. Johnson had been in the employ of the lumber company for several months, but is not known very well around Bemidji. Relatives living in Minneapolis were notified of the accident and have arranged to have the body sent to that city this evening for burial. Coroner Ibertson was called to the scene of the accident leaving yesterday afternoon, returning to Bemidji this morning with the body. The coroner said that death was accidental. (Feb 8, 1911)
