Harold Clementson and his wife Lorraine and family lived here for many years. He taught for thirty years and had a passion for learning. He designed a curriculum for an English class called Man verses Nature out of his concerns for the earth. Over the years he continued to express his concern for the natural world and how it is under extreme pressure as it moves to a predicted 10 billion people in the near future. He also taught basic English, Literature and Social Studies. He encouraged students to think critically about issues rather than simply gaining knowledge.

He was fascinated by all sciences and history but his interest in the earth’s formations later led to creating a rock polishing (souvenir) business that he and Lorraine operated for 52 years. This business soothed his adventurous spirit through mining, spelunking, prospecting, dynamite mastery, archeological digs, trading and much more.

There was a big pasture by the house. He raised Appaloosa horses and did annual roundups to wean and halter break colts for shipment to California supplying spotted horses for cowboy movies.

Lorraine worked at Northern National Bank (Wells Fargo) for many years. She later went into the rock polishing (souvenir ) business (Minnesota Gemstones) with her husband for 52 years.
