He started in 1903 as a member of the law firm of Gibbons &amp; Torrance in Bemidji. In 1908, he went into private practice and had his own law firm until 1927. Starting in 1927, he was Judge of District Court, 15<sup>th<\/sup> Judicial District. He was also the city attorney from 1910-1911, and the Beltrami County attorney from 1911-1927. During World War I, he was a government appeal agent. He served as District Court Judge into the 1940s.
